About

I’m Mexican, born and raised in México City. I immigrated to the United States when I was 17. It’s no surprise my books often deal with what it means to exist within two cultures.

I was the Parenting Editor at the The Mighty for three years. I’ve also written for several online publications, amongst those: the Huffington Post, Yahoo! News, Scary Mommy and more. I was a columnist for two magazines: Group and ParentLife. I’m a contributing writer to the book, Gifts 2: How People With Down Syndrome Enrich the World, have a short devotional in the SpiritLed Women’s Bible, and have an essay in Jot That Down: Encouraging Essays for New Writers— that essay made me a Pushcart Prize nominee in 2017.

In 2019 I was a Las Musas Hermana, and in 2020 a PitchWars mentee. Then in 2024 I became a mentor for The Round Table Mentor. I am currently working n my MFA in Writing for Children and young Adults from Hamline University.

I live in St. Paul with three daughters, two dogs, and one husband.
